Winter Time! This winter tour in Mongolia will be a unique travel and lifetime experience with full of adventures.
You will enjoy the wonder of infinite steppe glittering. The winter months in Mongolia are exceptionally beautiful time to see mountains covered in frost and snow.
Discover the experience of dog sledding at Gorkhi Terelj National Park, the magical unblemished landscapes of the Orkhon Valley with the frozen Orkhon falls, the unforgettable memory of horse riding, the dunes of Mini Gobi sandy cliffs and Khustai National Park, home of the famous Przewalski horses.

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia.

Your English speaking translator will pick you up at Chinggis Khan Airport and will take you to your hotel.

Your guide will be waiting for you at the hotel front desk and will have lunch.

We will visit Gandantegchinlin Monastery.

We will go shopping at Narantuul for extra equipment to properly prepare for the tour. Just in case warm hats, boots and jackets are the priority for winter trip.

Dinner (not included) and night at the hotel (2* – twin or triple room).

 

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar – Gorkhi Terelj National Park

After having a breakfast we will head to Gorkhi Terelj National Park.

Gorkhi Terelj National Park is one of the most popular parks in Mongolia. It is a part of Khan Khentii Strictly Protected area.

Arriving in Gorkhi Terelj National Park we will have a lunch.

Let's get our journey begin!

First of all, we will ride a car to reach intersection of Terelj and Tuul river. Right here we will be doing a dog sledding with 5-6 dogs on frozen river, admiring the beauty of our nature, the eternal blue sky. 

In the evening we will be located in yurt, have a dinner and get an overnight sleep.

Day 3: Gorkhi Terelj National Park – Khustai National Park

After having breakfast we will head to Khustai National Park.

Our journey begins as we start to see the snowy field.

Lunch at the Khustai yurt camp.

We drive in the Park with the 4×4 vehicle to find and observe the Takhi (the wild Przewalski’s horses).

Stay overnight at the yurt camp (single beds, 2 to 4 persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 4: Khustai – Karakorum

Breakfast and drive to Kharkhorin (picnic lunch en route).

Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery. Erdene Zuu (Hundred Treasures) is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.

Dinner and stay overnight. The accommodation may be chosen from nomad family, guesthouse, or a hostel (depending on the availability of the places).

 

Day 5: Karakorum - Nomadic Family of Orkhon Valley

We drive offroad tracks of the Orkhon Valley after breakfast.

The location and the settings of the nomadic families are different in winter than it is in summer. You’ll notice they settled down in a location where it’s more sheltered from the icy cold wind of freezing winter. The location is safe and friendly for the livestock as well.

Picnic lunch en route.

We reach the nomadic family who will welcome us for 3 days.

Our first horse ride will begin.

After a long day we will stay in separate yurts beside the family (4-5 single beds per yurt).

 

Days 6 and 7: Horseback riding in the Orkhon Valley

Breakfast.

We will travel through Orkhon Valley on a horseback and admire the great scenery of the valley in winter. The destinations in the valley is so spectacular as we see the frozen Orkhon Falls, pre-historic stone carvings and magical forests and much more. For the safety reasons, we will pick the destinations depending on the weather conditions.

We won’t be able to have the lunch en route as it is not a good idea in a cold weather. The lunch will be offered in the nomad family.

It is always nice to experience how the nomad families cope with the freezing cold winter and their way of life in this part of the year.

Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (4 to 5 persons per yurt).

 

Day 8: Horse riding in Orkhon Valley - Khogno Khan Mountain / Mini Gobi

Breakfast

We will depart from the Orkhon Valley and you will realize how close you became with the nomad family even though it was just 3 days.

Drive through Khogno Khan Mountain. We will arrive to another nomadic family where we will spend 2 more days.

Dinner and stay overnight in the separate yurt.

 

Day 9: Horseback riding in Khogno Khan Mountain / Mini Gobi

Breakfast.

We ride through the Mini Gobi sandy cliffs. 

Even in winter, the sandy part of Mongolia is astonishing as you can see the different contrasts of the beautiful landscape.

While riding a horse we will visit Ovgon Khiid Monastery.

Dinner and stay overnight at the nomad family.

 

Day 10: Drive to Ulaanbaatar

Departure to Ulaanbaatar after breakfast.

Picnic lunch en route.

You'll be offered to go shopping with a guide for the rest of the afternoon.

We don't include dinner to leave you a wide range of choices of Ulaanbaatar cuisine.

Night at a hotel (2* – twin or triple room). 

 

Day 11: Ulaanbaatar

Transfer to the airport after breakfast.

SMALL GROUP SUPPLEMENT

Groups of 2 or 3 : + 250 € / pers.

A supplement is refunded for all travelers after the 4th traveler is booked.

SINGLE ROOM

+ 100 € / pers. (2 nights in Ulaanbaatar only). This single room supplement applies if you want a single room in Ulaanbaatar.

Sleeping in heated yurts or guesthouses will help you to explore more about winter climate in Mongolia.

Hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

You will have to be charged with a good personnal equipment, especially a warm down sleeping bag and warm clothes, which will help you to enjoy your winter trip.
